Head Coach and Director: Galen Tomlinson
Galen has been working in the field of volleyball for over 15 years.
While coaching at Fallbrook High School his team produced two Avocado League Player’s of the Year, three North County Player’s of the Year, San Diego Player of the Year and the CIF Player of the Year.
During his club years coach Tomlinson has coached many athletes who have had success at the collegiate level.
These athletes include the NCAA Freshman of the Year, Two-Time All-American, five FAB – 50 selections, 1st Team Pac 10 Selections and several All-Americans.

Carli is a three time All-American setter and recently completed her collegiate career at the University of California at Berkeley where she became the National Player of the Year.
Currently Carli is a member of the USA National Team and plays professionally in Italy. In the off season she attends COAST Norh practices to share her knowledge with our athletes.
Carli was a varsity player for Fallbrook High School for four years. She was the North County Player of the Year, San Diego Player of the Year and CIF Player of the Year.
Brooke Barton Van Alfen
Brooke Barton Van Alfen was raised in Farmington, Utah, in a family that loves to compete and have fun. She has enjoyed academics and athletics throughout her life. In high school she earned a state championship in track and field in the 100m hurdles as well as academic and athletic all-state honors while playing volleyball. As an NCAA athlete on the University of Utah volleyball team, she continued to earn all-conference academic and athletic accolades. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Health Promotion and Education so that she could continue to teach and coach and share her passion for learning and fun with others. She has extensive experience playing, coaching, officiating and organizing at the club, high school and college levels. She happily resides in Bonsall with her incredible husband and children.
Courtney Brewer has been playing volleyball for eight years, beginning when she played for her middle school’s 6th grade team at Rincon Middle School. Her first year of club volleyball was in the 8th grade at San Diego Volleyball Club, where she played the next four years until she played her last and final year at 951-Elite Volleyball Club. Courtney made the Varsity team her freshman year at Escondido High School. She was co-captain her senior year at Escondido High School and was also North County Times All-League Honorable Mention in 2007. Courtney has continued her education at California State University San Marcos and is majoring in Business Marketing. This is Courtney’s fourth year coaching and she cannot wait to share her love of volleyball with her new team!
Lindsey Brewer played volleyball for seven years. She played volleyball at San Diego Volleyball Club and 951 Elite volleyball Club. Lindsey played on varsity all four years at Escondido High School. She was team captain her senior year. Recognitions include first team All- North County (’07) and North county All- Team honorable mention (‘08). She received a Scholarship to play at the University of La Verne but unfortunately turned the offer down. Lindsey now attends Palomar College and will be attending California State University San Marcos with a major in Business Administration in the fall. Lindsey also coached one year at Edge volleyball club.
Justin is currently the varsity volleyball coach at Mission Vista High School and has been coaching high school volleyball for five years. In addition, he has coached club volleyball in the U14, U16 & U18 age groups. He is a member of the Excel Volleyball coaching staff providing camps & clinics in the southwestern United States. Justin has officiated Southern California Volleyball Association tournaments, Mulligan Beach Tournaments in New England, Starlings USA National tournaments, United States Marine Corps Leagues & Tournaments and Wounded Warrior Para-Olympic Qualifying Tournaments. His belief in professional development is apparent as he attends coaches’ clinics annually through the Los Angeles 84 Foundation and the Starlings Volleyball, USA. He possesses I.M.P.A.C.T, National Federation of High School Coaches and National Federation of High School Officials’ certifications. He is a member of the American Volleyball Coaches’ Association and the National Federation of High School Coaches’ Association. He has contributed countless volunteer hours to the Starlings Volleyball Clubs, USA and Wounded Warrior Project athletes. As a youth, Justin competed in both the beach and indoor volleyball circuits. He completed his high school career as a 3 year Varsity Setter and went on to compete on the Men’s Club Team at the Community College of Rhode Island. Justin is currently pursuing a BS in Kinesiology with a minor in American Sign Language.
